Repeated halving

My group and I got some maths questions we had to solve by using the repeated halving strategy,here is an example...

Let's say 23x16=?well you halve the sixteen into these

                     8 2

                    4 2 

                  2 2 

 

So 23x2=46x2=92x2=184x2=368!!!

So you have to times the number by all the twos or threes in the numbers factors then by the end of that you would have found the answer!!!
